Globe & Mail: The Seal Hunt is Dead
Very well written piece in the Globe & Mail about the death of the Seal Hunt.
The only point I would like to make is about when she says animal activists are hypocrites because they don’t care about the millions of other animals that die every year for consumption. I would argue that is actually most of the general public but most animal activists see low hanging fruit and go for that first. You abolish the seal hunt, make wearing fur taboo, and decry bullfights and THEN encourage people to raise their level of compassion. Animal rights is a process and focusing on one issue doesn’t mean you don’t care about the other.
